To renew your Australian passport

Please refer to the Australian Passport Office website for all passport application fees.

If you're applying for a new Australian passport you need your passport photos taken before you lodge your application. This is so a guarantor/referee can sign the back of one of your photos.

If you're renewing your adult passport, or using the online passport application form, we can take your photos when you lodge your application, as they don’t need to be signed.

If you haven't received your digital copy of your ID photos, you should:

  • check that the email address printed on the physical photos you received is correct
  • check your email 'junk' or 'spam' folder.

If you still haven't received your digital photos, take your receipt and printed photos back to the same Post Office within 14 days of purchase, and we'll take your photos again and email them to you at no cost.

No, you don’t need an appointment to apply for or renew a passport. Just visit any participating Post Office during operating hours.
