Frequently asked questions

Local Pickup and Delivery services provide customers with options for:

  • PO Box clearance and delivery to a nominated address;
  • Scheduled delivery of incoming mail;
  • Scheduled pickup of outgoing mail;
  • Scheduled pickup and delivery at the same time; and
  • Ad hoc pickup/delivery of mail.

Where total distance travelled is up to 15km (per trip):

  • Scheduled delivery or pickup services start from $15.29
  • Ad hoc deliveries or pickups start from $16.29, inclusive of a $1 admin fee
  • Combined services (e.g. scheduled morning delivery and scheduled afternoon pickup) from $26.51
  • Consolidated services (clearing multiple PO Boxes and delivering to a single address) start from $91.35.

Where distance travelled is more than 15km, a surcharge of $1.27 per additional kilometre applies per service, for all services.

All prices are inclusive of GST.

For PO Box clearance (delivery) services, the 15km distance is measured from the Post Office/Business Centre where the customer’s PO Box is located, to their business address. The distance for pickup services will be measured from the customer’s premises to the operational facility that will be providing the (delivery) service(s).

Local Pickup & Delivery services are available to customers in all areas currently serviced by Australia Post, subject to a site inspection, a safety assessment, and available capacity.

Customers need to hold or apply for an Australia Post Business Credit Account. Please follow the link provided on the Services web page to apply for an Australia Post Business Credit Account.

For same-day pick-up or delivery, you'll need to book your ad-hoc service by 11am on the required day.

Customers can enquire about Local Pickup and Delivery services by speaking with their local Post Office, Account Manager, Local Business Centre Manager/BSM, or by completing an Expression of Interest (located on this Web page).

Cancellations and/or suspended services are required in writing (letter or email) with seven (7) days’ notice and addressed to the manager of the facility from which the service is provided.

If cancelling your service, all mail received for a PO Box clearance from the date of the service cancellation will then be delivered to your PO Box, if you have one. If you do not have a PO Box, your mail will be delivered to your street address, should this provide safe access for our posties. A site visit may be required.

If you were receiving a mail collection (pickup) service, please make alternative arrangements to lodge your mail. You can lodge mail and parcels at your preferred Post Office or Business Hub.

If a service is cancelled at short notice and the resource has already been allocated, the customer will be charged. If seven (7) days’ notice of a cancellation is given (e.g. closure for holidays), then the charge will be waived for the days on which the service(s) are not provided.

Yes, the customer will be charged for scheduled days agreed in the contract regardless of whether the service is used or not, unless seven (7) days’ notice is provided of temporary suspension or cancellation of the service/s.
