How it works
Business mail redirection forwards your business mail from your old location to your new premises.
- Redirect eligible letters and parcels for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months.
- Include up to 6 names on your application, including your business name(s), your own name, any name variations, and the names of those you work with (if anyone receives mail to the business where the business name is not listed).1
- Extend, alter or cancel your existing service at a Post Office.
- Available for companies2, clubs or associations3, partnerships or sole traders, government bodies or instrumentality and home office.
Application processing takes 3-6 business days. We'll send you a confirmation email when you submit your application, and another once your service is approved. A tax invoice will also be sent to you. If your application isn't approved, we'll contact you with the next steps.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. To redirect mail from both a street address and a Post Office Box, you must lodge a separate application for each.
If mail is addressed to more than one person, and only one of the addressees has applied for a Mail Redirection service, the mail will be delivered as addressed (that is, it will not be redirected).
If an article is addressed to more than one person, and the addressees have both applied for redirections but to different addresses, the article will be treated as "left address" and returned to sender.
Unfortunately, we may not be able to process Mail Redirection or Mail Hold applications if it will be difficult to isolate redirected or held mail from other mail being sent from that address.
This may be the case for addresses such as large businesses, caravan parks, hotels, and nursing homes.
If you’d like to seek further advice, please ask at your local Post Office or contact us.
When applying for your Business Mail Redirection, we need you to upload images and business documentation in JPG format (each file must be 10MB or under).
Change camera settings
Some smartphones save photos in file types other than JPG. If this is the case for yours, you may need to change your camera settings to ‘Most compatible’ or ‘JPG’ (we suggest a web search including your smartphone brand/model and the words ‘change camera settings to take JPG’).
Convert your business documentation to JPG
If your business documentation is in PDF or hard copy (paper) format, you’ll need to convert it to JPG before you can upload it.
Convert PDF to JPG:
- Print your certificate and follow the instructions below to convert hard copy to JPG, or;
- Open the PDF on your computer, select ‘Save as’ and save the file as a JPG.
Convert hard copy to JPG:
- Scan your certificate and save it as a JPG, or;
- Check your smartphone or camera-enabled device is set to take JPG images and take a photo of your paper certificate.
Checking your image
Before you upload your image, please check it to make sure:
- your fingers aren't covering any details
- the whole document is in the photo
- the text is clear and easy to read
- it's saved as a JPG and is under 10MB in size.

1 Up to six names can be added to your business mail redirection, including the legal entity name, other names the business operates under (at the same address), and the names of anyone who receives personal mail delivered to work. Mail addressed to an individual and the business will automatically be included as part of your business mail redirection.
2 Online applications are currently only available to companies.
3 If you run a local community group serviced by volunteers, provide a community service to the local community and are not-for-profit, you may be eligible for a discounted rate. Speak to friendly team at the Post Office to learn more.
