From 1 July 2025, Large C4 prepaid envelopes will no longer be available to purchase online but can be purchased in-store, while stocks last.


Letter deliveries have changed

From 15 April 2024, estimated delivery timeframes for regular and priority letters have changed. Please note, letters may be delivered earlier than the timeframes shown on our website as we make progressive delivery model changes across the country through to the end of 2025.

Postage costs and delivery times for Priority letters

Postage costs for letters are determined by size, thickness, and weight. Delivery times vary depending on the delivery speed you choose, and where it's sent from and where it's headed.

Check our letter size and weight guide to confirm if your item can be sent as a small letter/postcard, large letter, or seasonal greeting card including a Christmas card.

To send your letter as Priority, affix one Priority label next to the regular postage stamp, concession stamp or postage paid image. Priority labels cost $1.00 each. Available at any Post Office and online in a booklet of 5.

Underpaid mail

When using red street posting boxes, you must apply the correct postage for your items. If we detect that your mail was posted with insufficient postage, we may invoice you the difference plus an admin fee.

Concession card holders

If you have a concession card, you may be eligible for reduced rates on stamps for sending within Australia.

The cost to send a regular letter, greeting card or postcard within Australia is $1.70 (including GST). Concession card holders may be eligible for concession stamps which are $0.60 each.

A special postage rate of $0.65 applies for small Christmas cards and $1.30 for large Christmas cards, sent during November and December. Your card must be in a sealed envelope and endorsed with ‘Card only’.

The postage cost to send a letter or greeting card overseas depends on the destination you’re sending to, the size of your envelope (small or large) and the service (Courier, Express or Economy Air). Use our online calculator for costs and delivery times. Choose ‘Overseas’, enter the From and To locations, then click ‘Letters’ to view your options.

The postage cost to send a greeting card (including a Christmas card), or your own postcard to one of 220+ overseas destinations is $3. This is via our Economy Air service, which takes 15+ business days. Your card must be in a sealed envelope and endorsed with ‘Card only’ (excludes postcards). It must be:

  • no larger than 260mm x 360mm
  • no thicker than 5mm
  • no heavier than 50g.

The cost to send an international prepaid postcard to one of 220+ overseas destinations is $3.10. You can buy international prepaid postcards at the Post Office or through our Online Shop. This cost includes the postcard and the postage.
