Send money overseas with Western Union at Australia Post

Transfer money from Australia to 200+ countries and territories worldwide, including India, the Philippines, Lebanon, Fiji, the USA and more. You can transfer up to $9,000 per transaction (excluding fees). The exact amount depends on country conditions and will be disclosed at the counter.

Collecting a Western Union Money Transfer

It's quick and easy to collect your money at a participating Post Office.

Ask the sender for the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).
Head to the counter at a participating Post Office to confirm transfer details, with one form of valid ID (Australian Driver’s License, Passport1 or Australia Proof of Age card2).
Sign to collect payment.

MTCN stands for ‘Money Transfer Control Number’ and is a unique number associated with a Western Union Money transfer. An MTCN will be generated for all Western Union Money transfers made.

When you send money via an Australia Post outlet, the MTCN will be printed on the receipt. You’ll need to provide this MTCN to the recipient so they can collect the transferred funds.

If you are collecting money from an Australia Post outlet, you’ll need to have the MTCN from the sender in order to collect funds.
