Frequently asked questions

Domestic and outgoing international items

Whether you can track your item, and how much tracking information is available, depends on which service was used to send it.

View our tracking service for full details.

Track your item online now if you’ve used one of our trackable services.

Incoming international items

Whether or not tracking information is available for items sent to Australia from overseas depends on the postal or courier service used in the country the item is being sent from (fees may apply).

For more information on tracking an item you’re expecting from overseas, please contact the sender of the item and have them check with their delivery service.

Domestic

All of our domestic parcel services offer signature on delivery as an optional extra for an additional fee.

Simply ask for this option when posting your item over the counter at any Post Office or add it when creating a label through Click and Send.

If you’ve sent an item with signature on delivery and you’d like a copy of the signature once the parcel has been delivered, please contact us. (Please note, we can only provide this information to the sender of the item).

Visit optional extras (domestic) for more information.

Did you know? All domestic parcel services offer tracking which allows you to track your item online.

International

When using our international delivery services, you can receive a signature on delivery with International Express, International Standard or Registered Post International.

How you pay for and post your parcel makes a difference to the amount of information we can give you.

Receipt with tracking number

You’ll get a receipt with a tracking number, or article ID, on it for all items sent with a tracked service if:

  • you pay for and post your item over the counter at a Post Office, OR
  • you pay for your item online using Click and Send

Tracking number

You’ll have a tracking number (but no posting receipt), if you purchased one of our prepaid satchels.

For these items, you’ll find the tracking number on the barcode.

Tracking scans

All parcels sent within Australia and parcels sent overseas that have been sent with a tracked service will receive scans along the way.

Acceptance scan

If your parcel is sent with a tracked service and it’s posted over the counter at a Post Office, you can ask for an acceptance scan when it’s lodged.

For both domestic and international parcels, the acceptance scan you’ll see will be ‘Received by Australia Post’

If you post your item in a street posting box, it won’t get this ‘accepted’ scan. The first scan you get will be further along the delivery journey.

It’s important to note that the number of scans captured for any item varies and depends on a number of factors.

Visit our tracking service to understand more about the tracking scans you might see for different products.
