At the Katherine Post Office (📍NT 0850), Sherri is used to keeping kids in line while their parents pick up parcels. This time she joined a local playgroup through the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) Book Buzz initiative, swapping parcels for picture books; sparking joy and curiosity among the kids 📚
💬 “The kids loved looking at the pictures and asking questions. We need more support for all kids, it’s challenging here and getting books into their hands, getting them interested in learning, is so important.” — Sherri
You can head on a journey to remote communities like Sherri's as part of ILF's celebration of Indigenous Literacy Day 📽️ This year's theme, Strength In Our Stories: For Now & Future Generations, is being brought to life in a short film showcasing storytelling in three remote Aboriginal Communities.
We’re proud to support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation today and year-round, helping deliver First Nations stories to inspire future generations 🙌
