Today Australia Post announced a profit of $18.8 million for FY25. When I reflect on the past 12 months, I’m proud of our team members, including our Licensee and Delivery Partners, who have continued to delight our customers and communities, support each other and help create a sustainable future.
Despite an improved year-on-year performance, the looming sector-wide headwinds mean this result is likely to be a temporary return to profit. Many global postal operators including those in the US, UK, Canada, France and Spain have all faced these challenges and required billion-dollar government-funded bailouts. This is not a path we want to take.
Australia Post is at the heart of communities right across the country, particularly in rural and remote areas and we want to remain an essential, relevant, self-funded and financially sustainable business. But, as our communities and way of life transforms, Australia Post also needs to adapt.
Finally, thank you to our customers, communities, government and union partners who continue to support Australia Post and help make what we do possible.
