In the past six months, 46 Posties a week have experienced a dog-related incident. That’s an average of 9 per day.
We’ve recorded 1,194 dog-related incidents nationally, with one in three happening on customer property, and all happening at the front door or when the Postie approaches the door to deliver a parcel.
We love our customers' pets, but our Posties deserve to do their jobs safely.
We're calling out to all dog owners to follow our simple PAWS for Delivery steps when expecting a parcel:
• Sit your dog in a contained place, separate room or behind a locked gate.
• Ensure they Stay in that secure spot while your Postie delivers your parcel.
• Secure your dog behind your door or gate so the Postie can deliver - and leave - safely.
If you’re unable to secure your dog, consider using your nearest Parcel Locker; it's free, convenient and accessible 24/7. You can also use the AusPost app for live delivery times and dog safety reminders.
Let’s work together to keep both our Posties and our pets safe. 🤝
