Does travel insurance cover students studying abroad?
It sure does – and it’s strongly recommended when accepting an offer to study outside of Australia. If you’re not a citizen of the country you’re studying in, you may not be covered by their healthcare system should you need to access it. This can leave you vulnerable to massive out-of-pocket expenses, especially if you’re studying for an extended period. Australia currently has Reciprocal Health Agreements (RHA) with 11 countries, so check if these locations are relevant to you. Note though, that a reciprocal health care agreement is not a substitute for insurance.
